![]() ![]() ![]() For better or worse, Apple has shifted macOS to using SIP (System Integrity protection) and going the extra step to making /system a read-only volume, and requiring usage of APIs for various tasks like access to onscreen capture, microphone access and so on. As macOS gains popularity, the more focus there is for malware. It took MalwareBytes AntiMalware to remove, (run once reboot, run again) to clear both computers. My parents managed to get loaded up on browser extenions that couldn't simply be removed. Somehow my parents (my dad being the guess) managed to get both their iMac and his MacBook loaded with browser malware so it does happen. You'll get the "mAcoS dOeSnT hAvE VirUSeS" crowd which is technically true, most of what you get on macOS is browser malware for advertisement redirects and PUPs (Potentially unwanted programs). ![]()
